SPN 100 FMI 18 — Oil pressure below critical

SPN 100 identifies the parameter the control module is monitoring — oil pressure below critical. FMI 18 is the failure mode the module logged against it. Both numbers matter: the same SPN with a different FMI is a different repair.

Red lamp and engine protection shutdown.

• Low oil level
• Failed sensor
• Oil pump or bearing failure

• Stop and check the oil level
• Verify with a mechanical gauge
• Inspect for external leaks

• Replacing the sensor named in the SPN before checking its wiring, connector and ground.
