SPN 3936 FMI 31 — Aftertreatment system incomplete regeneration

SPN 3936 identifies the parameter the control module is monitoring — aftertreatment system incomplete regeneration. FMI 31 is the failure mode the module logged against it. Both numbers matter: the same SPN with a different FMI is a different repair.

• Too much idle time and short trips
• Faulty dosing valve
• Exhaust leak upstream of the DPF

• Run a parked regen when parked safely
• Inspect the DEF dosing line and injector
• Check for exhaust leaks between turbo and DPF
